Why practice this discipline?

What if I told you that after 35 years of archery, I still feel the same pleasure when sending arrows into a target? In instinctive shooting, you remain a spectator of your own shot, and the movie is never the same. But when the arrow hits the bullseye, it’s pure happiness. So rest assured: we created this discipline with different levels of difficulty so that the pleasure never stops.

Why did we make this site available?

Because if someone had told us that an archer could shoot one arrow per second (or almost) while galloping on horseback, and still maintain acceptable accuracy, we would not have believed it. And yet, it’s possible!

Yes, YouTube didn’t exist at the time. It’s thanks to people like Kassai Lajos who wanted to understand how archers of the past fought in battles (in some battles, mounted archers had a superiority of 1 archer for 4 soldiers). So how did he do it? Simple: he took a bow and arrows, trained, and created the Kassai challenge.

Kassai Lajos’ first objective was to be able to gallop and shoot one arrow forward, one to the side, and one backward. The rules of the Kassai challenge were born from this objective. The rules have been fixed for more than 25 years now, and hundreds of archers train on this challenge around the world following the same rules. They even organize friendly meetings.

This challenge focuses on self-improvement and therefore on improving your own score. The fact that the rules are fixed is the most important aspect of the challenge. That is the interest of this site: it gives you rules, you just have to follow them and the rest will come naturally. Help us push the limits of what is possible.

I am attracted to archery?

If archery has always attracted you without knowing why, these games are made for you: on foot, on an electric unicycle, on a hoverboard, or even by bicycle and electric motorcycle.

These games and their progression will help you succeed while having fun.

A bit of philosophy

People often say you need a goal to move forward:
“Someone who has no goal cannot reach it.” — Sun Tzu

But it is also said that you must know how to forget your goal to move forward:
“Man who walks without obsession of the goal is freer to invent his path.” — inspired by Friedrich Nietzsche

It is also said:
“A goal without a plan is just a wish.” — Antoine de Saint-Exupéry

WheelArchery is your plan: it will help provide you with a goal and a path, and moreover a playful path to help you forget your objective. Because make no mistake: the journey is long. But don’t we say we feel sad when a game ends? With WheelArchery, that won’t happen to you!

“He who aims for the moon is not afraid of the stars.”

Rest assured: your first arrows shot in motion that reach the center of the target will make you forget everything else, thanks to the pleasure they give you.

Ranking

Yes, you may ask: why a ranking?

The ranking is the summit of what is possible. It is a goal that can be moved each year according to your progress. It is like a ladder that helps you climb step by step to the top and perhaps, one day, add more steps. Count on me to add quite a few steps this year.

As the difficulties are completely different whether you are running or riding an electric unicycle, each ranking will have its own mode of transport, by discipline and by season.

Player Profile

The most important thing in Wheel Archery is the player profile.
You have your entire history there, with times and scores. This allows you to find the fine line between shooting fast but missing the target, and taking three tenths of a second more to shoot into the target (which is better anyway!).

Level Belts

These are levels that prove training pays off, and that improvement is above all personal. When you pass a level, it’s like climbing a ladder: it’s all positive.

Wheel Archery belts are obtained in Arrowheel 30m,Wheel Precision 30 m and Wheel Precision. Levels progress in steps of 10 points. Before each attempt, the player must announce the level they wish to try. If the score reaches the required threshold, the belt is awarded. If the score largely exceeds the requested level, the official result is capped at the maximum of the attempted level. Official attempts take place once a month, with a minimum of three archers present.

Why don’t we get tired of shooting arrows?

Instinctive shooting means becoming a spectator of the arrow you release.
First, you work: you do everything you need to do as quickly as possible,

without forgetting anything. Then you release the arrow and watch it fly toward the target (you can already reload while watching it).

If it hits the target: total thrill.
If it misses, you simply tell yourself that it will help you improve for the next one.

You may say that if this happens too often, the pleasure

of hitting the bullseye disappears. And you are right. That is why the disciplines are progressive and become increasingly challenging.

Instinctive shooting is magical

Instinctive shooting is magical. You practice and you improve.

Sometimes you regress, and that is when the system comes into play: it alerts you and pushes you to look for the problem.

For example, we say that arrows speak to you. If your arrow grouping is to the left

(for a right-handed archer), it is 80% likely a release problem: your hand moves outward.

Fix the problem, and your scores go back up. And so on.

How it works

Wheel Archery is not affiliated with any federation, championship, or similar organization.

Our rankings are based solely on training scores, with only one verification: the judge’s.

Accuracy of scores is important because you are competing against yourself. The day you beat your score, the pleasure will be even more real.

Our Concept

Wheel Archery is built around three strong identities, each representing a key role and a specific dimension of the discipline.

Archers Pionniers embodies boldness, movement, and innovation. It represents archers in action, performance in motion, and the pioneering spirit that drives the discipline forward.

Score Guardian represents accuracy and score protection. It stands for precision, integrity, and respect for performance. It is the guardian of fairness and personal progression.

Field Coordinator symbolizes organization and field supervision. It represents the structure, management, and coordination necessary for the activity to run smoothly.

Together, these three identities create the balance of the Wheel Archery concept:
movement, performance, and organization.
